Psychological Evaluation & Assessment of Gestational Carriers

If you are starting the process to become a gestational carrier, congratulations! What an amazing gift you are about to give the individual or couple whose child you will be carrying! As you begin to tackle your to-do list, you are likely very excited and nervous all at the same time. We are here to answer your questions, and help you start this incredible journey.

Begin Your Journey to Become a Gestational Carrier

We are excited for you to begin your journey of becoming a gestational carrier. All gestational carriers (GCs) need to undergo a screening process of your medical and psychological health to ensure you are well-prepared for the journey ahead. Carrying someone else’s child is a major life event!

Psychological evaluation of gestational carriers entails a thorough assessment of their emotional stability, motivation, and understanding of the surrogacy process. Evaluators also consider their support system, boundaries, past experiences, attachment and separation abilities, as well as postpartum support readiness.

The evaluation aims to ensure the gestational carrier's mental well-being and suitability for the role, promoting a positive and harmonious experience for all involved parties, including the gestational carrier, intended parents, and potential child. By addressing potential psychological concerns, the evaluation helps mitigate risks and supports the gestational carrier's overall emotional health throughout the surrogacy journey.
