Therapy for Building Self-Worth, Resilience, and Emotional Strength

Hello and welcome! I’m Farren Schmidt, MA, LPC, and I’m so glad to be part of the Ebb & Flow Psychological Associates team. I primarily work with women who are looking to strengthen their sense of self-worth, build resilience, and feel more confident navigating life’s challenges.

Many women who seek therapy are feeling emotionally drained, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves — often after years of prioritizing others. Therapy can be a powerful space to slow down, reconnect with your strengths, and begin making changes that feel both meaningful and sustainable. My goal is to support you in building emotional strength and confidence so you can move forward feeling more grounded and capable.

A Little About Me

I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling from George Washington University and my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Family Studies from James Madison University. I am also a National Certified Counselor and have completed post-master’s coursework in Resiliency through Eastern Mennonite University.

I’ve spent over 15 years in the counseling field, primarily working in school-based settings. In this role, I supported hundreds of adolescents navigating anxiety, depression, stress, and relationship challenges, while also collaborating closely with parents and families. This experience has shaped my strong interest in continuing my work with adults — particularly women seeking growth, balance, and emotional well-being.

My Approach to Therapy

I practice from a client-centered perspective, meaning I see you as the expert in your own life. I believe therapy works best when it feels collaborative, respectful, and tailored to your individual needs.

In our work together, you can expect:

  • A supportive space where your voice and experiences are valued

  • Room to process emotions at a pace that feels right for you

  • A strengths-based approach focused on identifying what’s already within you

  • Guidance and tools to help build resilience, confidence, and clarity

I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, adapting our work to support your goals and honor your lived experience. My role is to meet you where you are and help you move toward where you want to be.

Areas of Focus

I especially enjoy working with women who are:

  • Struggling with self-esteem or self-worth

  • Feeling emotionally exhausted or overwhelmed

  • Looking to strengthen resilience and coping skills

  • Navigating stress, anxiety, or life transitions

  • Seeking personal growth, balance, and confidence

Therapy can be a place to rediscover your strengths, challenge old patterns, and create lasting change — even during difficult seasons.

A Bit About Me Outside the Therapy Room

I’ve lived in the Hershey area most of my life (aside from my education years) and am a proud mom to identical twin boys who keep life busy and full. In my downtime, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, watching shows with my husband, and relaxing in Avalon, New Jersey whenever possible.
